Steam Turbines
Like Industrial Gas Turbines and Compressors, the Steam Turbines can be used in multi-unit strings in the Power Generation industry.
Heavy duty in nature, these units can operate in tough, rugged and environmentally hostile environments.

Rig Tests/Instrumentation
Test rigs are a large part of all engine and product development.
They can be a scaled down, fully instrumented version of the production unit and are used to test all running conditions expected in the production unit.

Rig Tests/Instrumentation
Our team is fully experienced in all aspects of Test Rig instrumentation.
From the positioning of the measuring points in collaboration with the experiment owners, to the running of the cables, tubes and land lines.
We have experience in telemetry and all associated instrumentation.
This technology can require specific bespoke machined features often requiring specialist machining techniques, particularly on sensitive parts like blades and vanes. In this regard we are comfortable taking on all aspects of instrumentation activities.

Flow Rigs
Occasionally a complex design can benefit from a Flow Test. Where CFD analysis data can be compared to test results from a physical test.
This is especially relevant if a power unit is being designed to operate in a mobile environment, ie in shipping or off-shore installations (FPSO) where the unit may pitch or roll considerably.
The Flow Rig would demonstrate the behaviour of the lubricant/coolant flow at all extreme operating positions.
With the Flow Rig also designed for maximum visual and camera access, the static photos and video films shot provide valuble real-time imagery that can be extremely useful when compared with CFD results

Flow Rigs
Our team at Allander Aerotech have experience with this aspect of design. Flow rigs can be full size or scaled down versions of a design proposal.
The flow rig components are often produced from clear perspex where possible to maximise visual line of sight and camera access.
They can also be 3D printed or conventionally machined. Our team have the experience to produce these designs, recommend and oversee the manufacture of the parts and interface with the test facility and experiment owners.
